A moped crash early Tuesday morning leaves a non-registered UF student in critical condition.
Witnesses said Joseph Lopez, 20, was driving west on Old Archer Road at 1:30 a.m. when his moped hit the median and went airborne, according to police.
The moped landed on top on Lopez as they fell onto the street.
Lopez was unconscious when police arrived and is still unconscious.
He is being treated at Shands at UF.
Sections of both SW 23rd Terrace and Old Archer Road were closed during some of the night to secure the scene for the forensics unit.
