Senior Day for Jocelyn Erickson and Kenleigh Cahalan didn’t just celebrate their collegiate career; it set the stage for what comes next.
The reason: the Athletes Unlimited Softball League Golden Ticket.
Following Florida’s matchup against Auburn, AJ Andrews, a former LSU standout and the first woman to win a Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2016, walked onto the field at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The fans who remained knew exactly what it meant.
Moments later, Erickson was presented with a Golden Ticket, signifying her selection for the upcoming AUSL draft.
Erickson, who transferred to Florida after her freshman season at Oklahoma, was overcome with emotion as she received the honor.
“The University of Florida changed my life forever,” Erickson said, tears rolling down her face. “They have impacted my life in so many ways, and I would not be the person, leader or friend I am today without them.”
The Phoenix, Arizona, native is on pace for the best hitting season of her career, currently batting .435 and sitting one home run shy of 50 for her career.
The additions of transfer catcher Ella Wesolowski and fellow senior Giulia Desiderio have helped ease Erickson’s workload behind the plate, allowing her to focus more on her production at the plate.
While many had speculated for weeks that the two-time Gold Glove catcher would receive the recognition, what followed made the moment even more special.
Andrews revealed she had a second ticket to hand out, and in that instant, Cahalan realized she would be joining Erickson in the draft pool.
“I didn’t think we were going to get two,” Cahalan said. “I thought we’d be one-and-done, because Jocelyn has been killing it for her whole career.”
For Cahalan, 2026 has marked a true breakout season. Through 45 games, the shortstop is hitting .382 with 15 home runs and a .757 slugging percentage, emerging as one of the most consistent and dangerous bats in Florida’s lineup.
A key factor in her rise has been the move back to her natural shortstop position. The transition has brought a renewed sense of comfort and confidence, but for Cahalan, the focus remains on the bigger picture, doing whatever the team needs.
“It doesn’t really matter to me,” Cahalan said. “I just want to do what’s best for the team. Whatever coach Walton thinks is best out there, that’s what I’m willing to do.”
The scene was reminiscent of last year, when Gators alum Korbe Otis received a Golden Ticket after her walk-off single in a series win against Alabama on April 19, 2025.
Florida now sits at 15-5 in SEC play with four games remaining, hoping for help to secure the program’s 10th SEC regular-season championship.
