Students planning to leave early for Spring Break should be wary of possible traffic on Interstate 75 Wednesday night.

Several lanes on I-75 will close at 8 p.m. Wednesday as crews repair damages done to the road after a series of fatal crashes on Jan. 29, according to a Florida Department of Transportation release.

If drivers want to avoid the southbound construction, they can use U.S. 441 to get onto I-75 in Micanopy.

Two southbound lanes about five miles south of Gainesville will be closed while about 400 feet of roadway is replaced, the release stated. One lane will stay open.

Crews will also resurface two northbound lanes, leaving one lane open.

The speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph during the repairs.

Repairs should be complete by 6 a.m. Thursday, according to the release.

The Florida Department of Transportation hired Anderson Columbia Company of Lake City to make the repairs for $69,000, the release stated.
