Students can experience Ron Swanson’s Pyramid of Greatness for themselves when Nick Offerman, the actor who plays him on “Parks and Recreation,” performs at the Reitz Union’s Rion Ballroom Wednesday night.
Offerman stars in the Emmy-nominated NBC show as Swanson, the hyper-masculine director of the parks and recreation department of a small Midwest town.
Tori Jeter, one of Reitz Union Board Entertainment’s directors of lectures and comedians, said the event will include stand-up, sketch comedy and music.
RUB, Accent Speakers’ Bureau and Inter-Residence Housing Association are putting on the event. Students can receive wristbands starting at 7 p.m., and doors open for the free event 15 to 30 minutes before it begins, according to an email from Ellie Carpo, another director of lectures and comedians.
RUB alumnus Timothy Keck will serve as master of ceremonies and introduce Offerman, Jeter said. Keck was part of UF’s 2010 comedy team that won “Funniest Stand-up Comedy Team” at the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival.
Offerman is being paid a combined $35,000 from the organizations to perform for an hour and a half.
