This summer, UF’s student and faculty portal, One.UF, will undergo changes to become more user friendly.

During Tuesday’s Student Senate meeting, members from COMPASS (Campus-wide Modernization Program to Advance Student Services) gave a presentation that explained what changes the website will see starting June 10.

Through One.UF, students can access information regarding their schedule, transcripts and holds on their account, said Jacob Prater, a UF information technology application developer analyst.

Changes will include a new public landing page as well as student and staff workspaces.

“This is our first step to providing separate workspaces for the different types of users we have on campus,” Prater said.

During the presentation, COMPASS members said a new mobile-friendly landing page will feature an improved search system and allow for easier navigation.

Prater said system changes were made because UF’s Student Self Service and myUFL will also be updated by Spring 2019. He said Student Self Service will be gone, while campus finances will move from myUFL to One.UF.

Plans to make changes to One.UF started about a year ago, Prater said. He added that upcoming alterations are an opportunity to provide an entirely new set of services to students and faculty.

Brendan Barany, a 20-year-old UF finance junior and Student Government business administration senator, talked about what he thinks will be the biggest impact the changes will have on campus.

“I think it allows those that maybe wouldn’t pay attention to the requirements that UF has for them in terms of either graduating or financial obligations to really stay on track,” he said.
