Attorney General candidate to reach out to young voters

In an effort to attract more young voters, Florida Attorney General candidate Dave Aronberg will be paying a visit to Gainesville today and Saturday.

The Florida state senator, who is challenging Dan Gelber for the Democratic nomination, will be making three appearances during his stay.

He will first speak to students at the Reitz Union, Room 272, at 3:30 p.m., followed by a meeting at the Lubavitch-Chabad Jewish Student & Community Center at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, he will speak at the Florida College Democrats’ spring convention.

Aronberg, who at 38 is Florida’s youngest state senator, believes that college students present a natural constituency and that he is the most electable candidate.

“The key to winning is reaching out to voters like [students],” Aronberg said. “I need to show them why I’m the right person for the attorney general position.”

Alex Harper, a coordinator with the campaign, said students will be impressed with the state senator’s ability to connect to people of all ages.

“He’s really going to be the people’s attorney,” he said.
