I can’t deny that I love a good deal. When most people see a sale they immediately perk up, and probably spend a little more than they should. This, unfortunately, is especially true in retail shopping and many people don’t realize how affected they are by the advertising they see-especially online.

The beads of sweat drop down your face and burn as they slide into your eye. You are finally done moving into your new dorm. Even though you are from Florida, you have never experienced heat like this. The dorm is nice...-ish. But it will do. Nothing can get you down. It’s your first week of college and you’re about to meet your roommate who you met on an online forum. As they knock on the door, you ask yourself, “How weird could they be?” You open the door and a strange saying is plastered across their shirt....

To students facing financial hardship: you are not alone. Both UF and off-campus organizations have resources readily available to those who need them, said Sara Tanner, marketing and communications director for UF’s Student Affairs.

Move out day is here. The cardboard boxes clutter your room in a claustrophobic way. You start to see the appeal in minimalism as you cram the umpteenth box with the umpteenth useless piece of junk. The floors are bare. The walls lack personality. It is time to say goodbye to your favorite corner of the apartment where all the spiders hang out. You take one of the Comfort Color T-shirts that now serves you no use and cry into it. After five minutes of bawling your eyes out, you lift your head and look into the shirt. You don’t remember what function you got it from, but the tear stains spell something out...

Anguished families planned funerals in two U.S. cities, politicians pointed fingers and a nation numbed by gun violence wondered what might come next Monday as the death toll from two weekend mass shootings rose to 31.

I first wrote about remakes, reboots and sequels for The Alligator in November of last year. At the time, I addressed Hollywood as a whole and how it can do remakes better. But I have since realized that while almost all of the major studios are guilty of this, Disney’s approach has been… special.

Sunday night, a teenage gamer became a multi-millionaire and also a Fortnite World Cup champion. Sixteen-year-old Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf beat 99 other players, and in doing so, became the game’s first solo world champion. He won $3 million. And although he didn’t ask, we have a few ideas about how he should spend it.

The internet’s resident troll has struck again, this time in our very own Turlington Plaza. If you’re lucky, you’ve never heard of him. If you have, you probably wish you had not. Instagram user Supreme Patty posted a video on Saturday of him smoking a bong in front of Marston Library as a UPD patrol car rolls in the background. Although the video may have you believe the 20-year-old Daytona Beach, Florida, native was smoking weed, UF Public Safety tweeted “it was oregano...”

The familiar saying — yes, the cliche one aboue sticks and stones — brings back childhood memories of teasing and shoving in the elementary school playground. While not everyone has experienced bullying firsthand, we’ve all encountered it at some point throughout our K-12 school years.

Get your hiking shoes on and perfect your “Naruto run” because in another case of ‘the internet made me do it,’ it looks like we are raiding Area 51.

Art takes multiple forms. While paintings and sculptures are the first mediums to come to mind, films, television shows, stand-up comedy and music are also prominent forms of art. Whether you’re listening to Miley Cyrus’s new album “SHE IS COMING,” laughing at the latest comedy special released on Netflix or watching Pokémon Detective Pikachu in theaters while having no prior knowledge of Pokémon, you interact with artists and their artwork.

Aliens have fascinated humans since the discovery of space. E.T., ALF, Spock and Marvin the Martian are just a few of the extraterrestrial characters from humanity’s imagination. The human perception of aliens goes to show how dedicated we are to the unknown little (or very big) guys way out in space. At least this seemed to be the case until recently.

The War on Women has been in full force since the Reagan administration and recent anti-abortion laws are just the newest assault on women’s reproductive rights. On May 15, Alabama signed into a bill into law that bans virtually all abortions. It does not include exceptions for rape or incest and makes performing an abortion a felony punishable by 99 years in prison.

No shade in sight, you stand at the bus stop. The wretched RTS app lies: listing bus five as minutes away. But you’re on campus and the GPS location of the vehicle proclaims your chariot is chugging along on Archer Road. Being the genius you are, you conclude there is no way the bus is as close as it says it is, so you go to Starbucks to get the sickly sweet, bright pink tea.

“There’s this great misconception that when you are a sex worker that you’re selling your body,” A.G. said. “Selling a body is human trafficking, and that’s slavery. Sex workers aren’t enslaved. We’re selling a service.”

National Girlfriend Day. National Boyfriend Day. National Ex-Spouse Day. The list goes on and on. It seems to me that in recent times these “holidays” have grown in popularity thanks to the online societies unasked for and organic decision to use them as a reason to post. These are days when your feed is full of people posting about their significant others, whom they love and appreciate, but it has become an excuse to post a picture that you have had saved in your camera roll.

Earlier this year, I wrote a column about how I owned a pair of fake AirPods. Well, I would like to write I have gotten a second pair that is much closer to the actual product. A trip online to an Asian wholesale website, a few extra dollars for express shipping and six days of waiting brought another pair of fake AirPods to my dorm. They came in a box with the same minimalist Apple style, a lightning cable that works for my phone and even some stamps. My first pair of imposters cost me $2 and were honestly a hassle. These fakes, however, have changed the game for me.
