Absent Minded: Faculty should embrace textbook savings law

While a prescient administration and an intellectually eager and engaged student body are also essential elements of a successful institution of higher learning, without committed professors who challenge us academically and inculcate a life-long love of learning, the university system fails.

Failure to sign bomb treaty is hypocritical

Last week, over 100 countries met in Dublin, Ireland, to sign an agreement banning the use of cluster bombs, weapons invented by the Soviet Union during World War II. Cluster bombs are large single bombs that release a number of "bomblets" over a vast area and are usually intended for anti-personnel use.

“Sex and the City” finishes with style

The premiere of "Sex and the City" on Friday night brought out Gainesville's most devoted fans, and some even dressed the part. I wanted to get really carried away and dress in a pink leotard and pink tutu, which Sarah Jessica Parker dons in the show's opening sequence, but my roommates thought that was taking it a little too far.
