Two bloggers sound off: Sweden launches new feminist movie rating

Did you hear Rachel McAdams is coming out with a new movie? Don’t roll your eyes. Yes, she’s typecast again as the “other-half” who loves so much it hurts in “About Time,” as well as in “The Vow,” “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” and “The Notebook.” At least we’ll always have “Mean Girls,” which I argue is her pièce de résistance.

Gators swimming to compete in Buckeye Invite

For the second year in a row, the Gators swimming and diving teams will travel to the home of the Buckeyes for the Ohio State Buckeye Invitational today where both teams’ competition will include Purdue, Kentucky, Virginia and host Ohio State in the three-day meet.


Guests dine at a Thanksgiving-style feast Thursday evening at Gainesville’s American Cancer Society Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge. Winn-Dixie hosted the dinner.

Cancer patients celebrate Thanksgiving a week early

Twenty-seven years ago, a grocery store chain funded the building of Gainesville’s American Cancer Society Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge for cancer patients and their families. On Thursday night, the same chain provided its first Thanksgiving dinner for current residents.
