The 'Check Engine' light: What to do?

At some point in time if you drive a car ranging from 1996 to 2010 model, you have seen that yellowish, bright light pop up on your car's gauge cluster. For some vehicles it might be the words "check engine," for others simply a picture of a wrench. Many drivers have no idea what this simple little light means.

Let them pray; Voluntary service outside school OK

In our Oct. 24 issue, we sided with an atheist Rhode Island student who claimed that her school was violating the First Amendment's establishment clause. In the school, a mural depicting a prayer hung on the wall and was titled "School Prayer." It was also Christian in nature, clearly violating the establishment clause of the Constitution.

The Rally: Should the SEC expand from eight to nine conference games?

Tyler: University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides said Sunday that the SEC will expand to a nine-game conference schedule starting next season. SEC officials, for their part, went all “nothing to see here” and said they had not even discussed changing the current eight-game format.

Students overcrowd anthropology department

Gov. Rick Scott clearly touched a nerve a few weeks ago when he bashed anthropology majors, saying he thought we had too many. The local responses were furious. While I disagree with his implied premise that a liberal arts education is not as valuable as a STEM education, we really do have too many anthropology majors.
