Campus crime by the numbers: Oct. 16-26

Crime on campus from Oct. 16 to Oct. 26 was heavy in terms of theft and also included a few narcotics-related violations, according to the University Police Department's "http://police.ufl.edu/media/crimelog/default2.asp" target= "_blank">campus crime log.

Police: Trucker killed 3 prostitutes across South

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Long-haul trucker John Boyer's gray beard and round face give him a grandfatherly appearance, but when he opens his mouth, he seethes with anger toward women. This hatred had murderous results, authorities said, as he picked up prostitutes around the Southeast, killed them and dumped their bodies near interstate highways. He's accused of at least three slayings and is suspected in a fourth.

UPD officer fired due to conduct

The conduct evaluation was prompted by UPD Officer Keith Smith's handling of a traffic stop on July 23, when he threatened to shoot a 20-year-old man whom he pulled over on a charge of reckless driving.
