Walker to transfer

UF redshirt freshman running back Chevon Walker has been granted a release from his scholarship and allowed to talk to other schools about transferring, UF sports information director Steve McClain confirmed Tuesday.

Phones prevent us from communicating

A very noticeable trend in campus life is the overwhelming presence of students attached to their cell phones or encapsulated by the earbuds of their iPods. Not only does this trend essentially shut us off from the world that is within our gaze, but it nearly destroys any attempts one student may have at communicating with another.

Madu out for season

Freshman forward Ndidi Madu is done for the season. Madu blew out her right ACL Sunday night in practice, and an MRI Monday morning confirmed the team's fears. Madu's game had seen a lot of improvement lately and she looked to give the Gators some depth down in the post. This marks the third UF player that will be out of lineup due to injury.

Thomas wins SEC Player of the Week

Sophomore point guard Brittaney Thomas' coming-out game against Xavier Friday did not go overlooked by the Southeastern Conference. Thomas was named SEC Player of the Week Monday after she scored 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting in her first career start.

Caldwell steps up in Percy's absence

COLUMBIA, S.C. - No. 17 UF (7-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) found its way through the nation?s best passing defense without top receiver Percy Harvin, totaling 304 yards through the air in a 51-31 win over South Carolina (6-5, 3-5 SEC).
