Superstitions, nerdy habits die hard

Last week, I came to an unexpected realization: I am a superstitious tool. I've always dismissed superstition as worthless and irrelevant, and now I'm as guilty as morons who still have rabbits' feet dangling from their key chains.

When the UF softball team beat California to advance to the Women's College World Series last season, the players didn't properly celebrate the occasion on the field. Coach Tim Walton said his team didn't know what to do after the 4-2 victory.

Student remembered for big heart, outgoing spirit

UF student Starr Bishop was a straight-shooter who loved the outdoors. She snow skied and skydived. She even spoke out in a town meeting against a proposed parking garage that would block access to the St. Johns River, which flows through Jacksonville, her hometown. It was an argument she won.
