The 2018 regular season was predictably unpredictable for a year where the Florida volleyball team replaced four graduating All-Americans who led it to a 2017 NCAA Championship appearance with six freshmen and a transfer.
Saturday’s 41-14 win over Florida State was arguably the most valuable victory of the Gators’ 2018 season, and there were a handful of players that made it possible. Here are Saturday’s Most Valuable Players:
Jachai Polite ripped past Florida State’s left tackle and reached out. FSU quarterback Deondre Francois pulled the football back for a throw, but the hand of the junior pass rusher prevented it from going any further. The ball squirted out, and defensive end CeCe Jefferson jumped on top of it.
Van Jefferson took a step in toward the FSU defender on his route, then took a step back out.
There was a lot of celebrating in the O’Connell Center Friday night as Florida’s volleyball team secured a sweep over the South Carolina Gamecocks to finish off the regular season.
Right-side attacker Holly Carlton took a normal swing at the pin as the Gators trailed the Volunteers 24-21 toward the end of the third set.
Indiana feasted on the Florida women’s basketball team on the eve of Thanksgiving in Bloomington, beating the Gators 83-64 to push UF to a program-worst 0-5 start.
