The South Carolina Gamecocks defeated the Gators women’s golf team in the semifinal match play round of the East Lake Cup.
The Gators men’s golf team recorded a season-low round Monday, shooting a collective 11-under-par. Still, they shot up four spots on the leaderboard to fourth place, sitting 14 strokes behind the leaders Vanderbilt.
The Gators women’s golf team completed the first round of the East Lake Cup Monday, shooting a collective 5-over-par. The team is currently in third place, trailing the leader Ole Miss by 10 strokes.
The Gators have returned to practice following their team-wide COVID-19 outbreak that included 31 positive cases in the month of October. Florida has five days to prepare for Missouri after athletic activities have been at a standstill since Oct. 13.

An already difficult matchup at No. 11 South Carolina was even tougher for Florida with the absence of coach Becky Burleigh, who stayed back in Gainesville due to COVID-19 contact tracing. Florida men’s tennis heads to Columbia, South Carolina, this weekend for the Gamecock Fall SEC Shootout, which will take place Oct. 23-25. The team will play against hosts South Carolina along with Georgia and Texas A&M.
