With the O’Connell Center lights out and David Guetta’s “Where Them Girls At” blaring from the speakers, Florida’s volleyball team danced onto the court to begin the 2011 season.

Florida volleyball coach Mary Wise walked into her team’s practice facility one day over the summer and saw an elaborate practice plan drawn out. Clueless to who may have crafted the lengthy workout, the veteran coach thought a local club team was really pushing itself.
The loss still lingers in their heads every day. Whether it’s on the court or in the weight room, there is no shortage of reminders.
In the end, it just was not meant to be.

Since the first match of the season on Aug. 28, Florida has tried to consistently improve until the end of fall, when the NCAA Tournament begins.

On Sunday, Florida celebrated senior day and the careers of middle blocker Lauren Bledsoe, libero Erin Fleming and outside hitter Callie Rivers in the O’Connell Center.
