Josh Gad chatted with students Monday about the importance of voting, taking photos with those who promised to vote.
The “Frozen” voice actor and comedian was on Turlington Plaza as part of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s early voting campaign in Florida. He walked around the Plaza of the Americas during Krishna Lunch, talking to students about why they should cast an early ballot in the upcoming elections.
Brett Fielder, 21, decided to stop on his way to class and talk to Gad after recognizing him from his role in “The Wedding Ringer.”
“We were really nervous to talk to him, but he just started talking to us,” the UF finance junior said.
Fielder and his friends spoke with Gad for about five minutes about UF, football and why it was important to vote. After talking to Gad, Fielder said he signed up to vote Monday.
“He’s very personable,” he said. “He wants to be friends with you. I never met a celebrity like that, who just wants to talk to people.”
Josh Levi, 19, was sitting and eating Krishna Lunch when Gad came up and introduced himself.
“He was definitely very passionate about early voting,” the UF materials science and engineering sophomore said.
Levi said he’s undecided, but talking to Gad made him lean more toward Clinton. By the end of the conversation, Levi was signed up to cast an early ballot Thursday.
“He definitely was able to get some people to vote,” he said.
