Almost a full week after a man exposed himself to a UF faculty member, University Police released a timely warning to students, staff and faculty.

At about 4 p.m. on Feb. 5, a man exposed his penis to a woman on UF campus, said UPD spokesman Officer Wayne Clark.

Since December, nine other women have been flashed throughout the city. Authorities believe one man is responsible, and he’s been able to escape each time.

A 35-year-old UF Health Shands Hospital faculty member called police at about 4:20 p.m. Friday, 20 minutes after being flashed, Clark said.

“Obviously we still don’t know if it is the same person at this point, however . . . the descriptions match all the other descriptions given to us,” Clark said.

But unlike three other on-campus cases, the one Feb. 5 didn’t occur in a Norman Hall Parking Garage stairwell. Instead, the suspect was on the ground floor of Garage 6 near Shands’ South Emergency Room, Clark said.

Clark said the suspect, assuming it’s the same man, might have seen his crimes in the media and decided to change locations.

Along with the warning, police released a composite sketch of the suspect.

“Now we kind of have a good idea of who we’re looking for,” Clark said.
