Two people were shot in a white Ford Crown Victoria near the Holiday Inn off University Avenue on Sunday at 2:20 a.m., according to Gainesville police.
Gainesville Police Department spokesman Keith Kameg said Corey Tevon Smith was shot in the head and taken to Shands at UF. The injury is life threatening, Kameg said.
Justin Glass, the driver, was shot in the right arm but the injury is not life threatening.
Kameg said the car was traveling west on University Avenue when the car was stopped and an unknown man approached the car and shot several times into the car.
The motives are unknown, Kameg said.
Kameg said anyone with information regarding the shooting should contact GPD Detective Patty Nixon at 334-2483.
