I would like to thank UF Campus NOW for its glowing column regarding the benefits and conveniences abortions offer to women.

After reading the column, I have never been so distraught in my life. How can people possibly take a position as callous and insensitive as Claire Beach and her organization's? We are all alive and able to enjoy the good and the bad things of life, as well as able to argue either side of the matter. This comes from the simple fact that each and every one of our mothers decided not to abort us. Would you want to be aborted?

The answer any reasonably conscientious individual would respond with is a resounding no.

We all deserve a chance at life and the opportunity to experience things such as finding love, getting an education and enjoying a football game. There are alternatives expecting mothers can turn to rather than the Draconian prospect of an abortion.

To take the easy way out of something that is the foundation of life would be an insult to our mothers, who endured all the hardships imagineable just so we could enter this world and be able to someday express our thanks.

UF Campus NOW would want us to believe that having a baby would inconvenience the educational career of the woman. I am not disputing that at all, as that would be very true.

However, resources are available that other organizations offer to women to help them through such times.

Unless a woman's life is in critical danger, an abortion should never be considered. If the reason for having an abortion is anything other than saving the life of the mother, no other justification exists to terminate the life and all the possible contributions that life would make to this world.

After experiencing college life, meeting all sorts of new people and the fun things at UF, would you want to be aborted? Everything you have experienced would never have existed. While you may answer the question with a yes or a no, unfortunately, some do not have that option.
