Women's basketball media day impressions

It was the first chance to meet the new coaching staff as well as the players this afternoon.

This coaching staff is very upbeat. Coach Amanda Butler expressed in her press conference the fact that she thinks the team might surprise some people. Call it false hype if you want, but it seems like Butler and her assistants believe in what they're trying to bring to UF.

Some things to look for this season:

Up-tempo offense and defense…junior transfer Aneika Henry (6'4") reportedly can dunk…senior guard Depree Bowden looks to be team leader on and off court and Butler hopes to move her to the wing this season…junior Sha Brooks is upbeat as ever and feels great after knee surgery in March…junior forward Marshae Dotson is very excited about having some new tall freshman…Butler looks to utilize a deeper rotation this season to hopefully spare the team from injuries and the physical SEC play…

The first time the team is allowed to practice is Friday at 7 p.m and they're scheduled to go for three hours.

First game is an exhibition versus Warner Southern at 5:30 on November 1.
