Alligator Staff Report
UPDATE (7:19 PM): Coach Urban Meyer has released a statement that Hornsby has been kicked off the team.
"He is not a part of our program," Meyer said in the statement.
That ends Hornsby's troubled career with the Gators.
Just when it seemed Jamar Hornsby was set to make a contribution on the field this fall, the safety reportedly found himself in trouble yet again.
Hornsby turned himself in to Alachua County authorities Friday morning on charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, according to reports in the Gainesville Sun and Miami Herald.
Hornsby allegedly used a credit card issued to Ashley Slonina, the UF student who died in the motorcycle accident in October that also claimed the life of UF walk-on Michael Guilford.
Hornsby's use of the card allegedly began October 13, the day after Slonina's death, according to reports.
You'll remember the redshirt sophomore was in trouble last season for an incident involving the sale of complimentary tickets.
If these charges pan out, this would likely be the final straw for Hornsby as a part of the Gators. Not to mention that it would be a pretty heartless act.
