Once again, the Alligator has failed to understand its own shortcomings. Once again, the Alligator has openly flaunted its infatuation with Dave Schneider. Once again, the Alligator has neglected more important facts in order to reinforce the politics of SG that it so often sounds out against.

In Tuesday’s issue, the cover story was about the Progress Party at St. Francis House. I cannot understand why this made news. There are people who spend every day serving the homeless and the larger Gainesville community. I’ll be happy for the day when this paper has a feature on Jacqueline Ros who is involved with a children advocacy program, or Erica Sokol who is starting a program seeking support for prematurely born, or Nick Dunn who is so caught up in arranging for the underprivileged to have simple household furniture that he shows up to his outreach programs in his Starbucks uniform. Once again the Alligator will ignore everything inspiring in people in order to perpetuate political noise and a cult of personality.
