As a member of smaller student organization on campus, the Ambassadors of Civility and Ethics, the need for meeting space is always present. Rooms on campus are booked quickly and often my organization is forced to plan programs and events at makeshift locations.

After reading yesterday's article, I think expansion of the Union and student areas would not only give my organization more space to operate, but it would allow smaller student organizations like mine to be more visible on campus, thus increasing our impact and membership. It would allow organizations to better collaborate, increasing efficiency of our budgets and productivity on campus.

Looking at other universities, UF seems to have fallen behind in supporting the needs of today's student body when it comes to space where students can engage outside the classroom. An improved student union will make students more included in campus life and foster their development.

I feel that an expansion and renovation of the Reitz is long overdue.
