For University Police, that old wooden ship known as "diversity" reared its ugly head from Feb. 11-17. Officers saw it all: battery, burglary, bomb threats and a bunch of other things not mentioned here for the sake of alliteration.

The vague "criminal mischief" was the most frequently reported misdeed in the UPD crime log this week. Other than that, there were two drug violations, trespassing and scooter thefts.

For the second time in as many weeks, a hazing incident was reported Monday. The hazing allegedly took place from April 2010 to January 2011. Check the Alligator this week, as more information is sure to emerge.

Oh, and there was a bomb threat at the O'Connell Center on Wednesday. Obviously, nothing tragic came of the threat — the building still stands, the Gators are still playing games — but any such threat is scary. Check back for more information later this week.

Here is how the crimes broke down this week:

What's Yours is Mine

  • UPD reported a trespassing, criminal mischief and burglary Thursday at the Harn Museum, which is that art museum across from the gym, for our less cultured readers. No arrest has been made.
  • Officers reported another theft Thursday at the Student Recreation Center, which is the building connected to the Chili's Too, for our less athletic readers. No arrest has been made.
  • Two bicycle thefts were reported: one at Reitz Union on Feb. 11, the other at McCarthy Hall on Wednesday. No arrests.
  • A scooter theft was reported Monday in the parking garage behind Hume. No arrest.
