Gainesville Police officers await the arrival of medical workers on Northeast Sixth Street early Tuesday morning after arresting a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting near the Village Green and Forest Green apartment complexes.

A Gainesville man shot at two people sitting in a parked car Monday night and eluded escape for two hours during a high-speed chase.

Tervares “Cheese” Littles, 34, was arrested on two charges of attempted murder after a chase with Gainesville Police.

He was also arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Littles has 15 previous felony convictions and is a registered sex offender, according to a GPD report.

Tarvarious Thomas and an unidentified woman were sitting in a car at Village Green when Littles walked up to the vehicle, “racked” a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun, and fired at the black Honda Civic several times.

Two of Littles’ bullets hit Thomas in his lower torso, and though the unidentified woman wasn’t hit, she said she feared for her life and “thought [she] was going to die,” according to the report.

She hid under the steering wheel to avoid being hit.

There was a conflict earlier Monday evening between Thomas and Littles that was an “act of violence,” said GPD Detective Martin Honeycutt.

According to Honeycutt, Littles and an unidentified male driver drove off in a silver van. The driver is still at large.

Sgt. Steve Girard followed the van until he lost it on the east end of Northeast 16th Avenue and Northeast Second Street, Honeycutt said.

Police found a cellphone, handgun and ammunition on the ground in the front yard of 1305 NE Seventh St. after Littles fled.

About 15 to 20 officers, along with helicopters and dogs, set up a perimeter to search for Littles.
