Gainesville Police has charged Pedro Bravo with the murder of Christian Aguilar.
Outside the Florida Farm Bureau building on Friday afternoon, GPD spokesman Ben Tobias said police charged Bravo with first-degree murder.
Tobias said Aguilar’s body had not been recovered and assured that police will continue the search for the missing 18-year-old UF student.
Aguilar’s family was not present at the news conference.
Tobias encouraged Gainesville residents to volunteer for the search and asked property owners with limerock roads to check for any ground areas that may have been disturbed.
Aguilar, a biomedical engineering freshman from Miami, went missing on Sept. 20.
Police arrested Bravo, an 18-year-old Santa Fe College student, on Monday after he told officers that he fought with Aguilar and left in him a parking lot in the 4900 block of Northwest 13th Street.
On Friday, Bravo remained in Alachua County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
Since Aguilar’s disappearance, hundreds of volunteers have participated in the search for the missing student, looking through wooded areas around Gainesville and assisting officers from over 20 police agencies.
Tobias added that GPD is requesting information from anyone who may have seen Bravo’s blue Chevy Blazer in any remote areas on the night of Aguilar’s disappearance.
If you have any information, please contact the GPD at 352-393-7670.
