March 14 is Pi Day — The wonderful time of year when we pretend to celebrate math by eating pastry.

Let’s do a comparison, shall we? What has pi (3.14) contributed to your life? If you’re not a math major, chances are it helped you pass eighth grade algebra and pretty much became irrelevant shortly after. In comparison, Pie has been there for you constantly on thanksgiving tables and dessert menus.

From Pie you learned diversity by eating both sweet pies and savory pies with slices of apple and quiche respectively. You learned the importance of a balanced diet by incorporating vegetables and protein with pumpkin or chicken pot, for example. You even learned social skills like sharing, as no one can eat an entire pie by themselves.

All pies were created to equally satisfy your stomach. I think it’s clear who wins this debate. If you’re looking for an incredibly well-themed pie to make for Pi Day, head over to www.instructables.com/id/the-apple-Pi.

Yes, the apple filling is made with all the cut out numbers of pi. Amazing and nerdy (and definitely delicious) all at the same time. Happy Pi Day!
