The temperature is rising as summer approaches, which means it’s time to get rid of those jeans and slip on a skirt instead. Trendy skirts come in all lengths so here are three different hemlines and ways you can style them to make them your own.

Mini

Thankfully, today’s mini skirts are mainly high-waisted so that they can sit at your natural waistline and bring attention to the smallest part of your body. This type of length is perfect for the shorter girl who wishes to show some leg to give her some height, but it can also work with just about any body type. One of the top spring and summer trends for this year is the A-line, which is universally flattering and kind to the thigh and hip area for girls with an hourglass shape. Find a cute A-line mini and pair it with a tucked in denim button down shirt. You can also add a belt to further cinch in at the waist to bring a dash of chic. The true trick to the mini is wearing it with confidence.

Midi

These skirts were popularized during the 1970s and have made their presence known once again since last spring. This hemline is a little harder to wear but not impossible! Length is a large factor in choosing which to buy for this type of skirt. I suggest just below the knee for shorter girls while taller girls can look for just about any length. Keep your top simple if you choose to wear a bold colored like the one above from American Apparel or feel free to bring some color and print on top if the skirt is a darker shade.

Maxi

The maxi has to be favorite type of skirt next to minis. Don’t let their length scare you away from a great opportunity for looking fashion forward and chic! A girl of any height can pull this skirt off. The main thing you want to do when searching for the perfect maxi is to make sure it isn’t so long that you risk having accidents later on or look overwhelmed by the piece. Pair this skirt with a tighter fitting top or even a crop top for those who want to conquer two trends at the same time. There are so many types of maxis now so feel free to try something different like a sheer maxi with side slits like this pink one the model is wearing from Forever 21
