Swamp of love: Be in, and out of, your relationship

Now that school is back in session you and your boo are back in the same town. This could mean a lot of things, like late night dates to Paynes Prairie or in-between-class lunches. It could also mean losing focus on what we’re all here for, school, and facing the consequences later.

Being in a relationship is fun, especially in college. We’re all young and carefree. We can do whatever we want, when we want (as long as it’s legal), and all of this makes the dating world that much more exciting.

But unfortunately, with no one to tell us what to do, we funnel our focus to one or two things that aren’t going to help us get a job or get into medical school one day. Here’s how you can be in your relationship and school at the same time:

The most obvious answer is to go on study dates together. If Library West isn’t your forte, go to Starbucks. You can buy your gal, or guy, a cup of coffee and do work while still spending time with each other.

Another idea is to put your exam and project due dates in your agendas together. You both can get a look at when the other won’t be able to text all day or go to Midtown on a Wednesday night. Plus, you can plan one of those “hey I know life sucks right now because your brain is about to explode, but here I brought you an energy drink” surprises.

See friends, you don’t have to throw away your relationship to do well in school, and you definitely don’t want to throw away school to do well in your relationship. Find a happy medium, and your significant other will follow suit.
