Gainesville Police arrested a UF student early Sunday after he reportedly stabbed a man in the leg with a knife.

At about 1:15 a.m., Perry Alfred, 22, got into an argument with someone inside a party at The Warehouse Restaurant and Lounge, at 502 S. Main St., according to a police report.

When the person arguing with Alfred tried to walk away, Alfred stabbed him in the upper left thigh with a knife, according to the report.

The person left the bar with the knife still stuck in his leg and told police officers what happened, GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias wrote in an email. As the victim told his story, several of his friends rushed inside looking for Alfred.

Police on horseback and other officers cleared the crowd while Emergency Medical Services took the stabbed person to UF Health Shands Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

After Alfred went to the jail to ask if there was a warrant for him, police arrested Alfred on a charge of aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability.

Officers took him to the Alachua County Jail shortly before 4:30 a.m. His bond has not been set because he has yet to appear in front of a judge.
