Julius Long, son of former County Commissioner Rodney Long, charged with promoting nudity in an alcohol establishment

The State Attorney’s office has reportedly agreed to defer prosecution in consolidated cases involving Julius Long, the son of former County Commissioner Rodney Long.

On June 16, 2014, Long, 27, was charged in a sworn complaint with nudity prohibited in an alcohol establishment, a misdemeanor, after officers had repeatedly observed females dressed insufficiently when Long was working as manager and promoter at the now-closed Level Night Club.

According to a sworn complaint obtained by the Alligator, Long was informed several times by officers about the illegality of promoting nude dancing in an alcohol establishment. According to the report, Long continued to promote nude dancing after he was informed of the violation.

On Jan. 29, Long was arrested for misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence. It is unconfirmed if the two cases are related.

On Wednesday, both cases were heard at a pre-trial conference in Gainesville.

The State Attorney’s office reportedly agreed to defer prosecution until July 29, where a judge will hear both cases.

Long is represented by Jesse Smith, the son of former State Attorney and 2006 gubernatorial candidate Rod Smith.
