Authorities arrested a UF student Saturday afternoon after she reportedly used a false ID and resisted arrest.

At about 5 p.m. Saturday, Savannah J. Gribbins, 20, reportedly held a can of Natural Light beer while standing in the 2000 block of Museum Road, according to an arrest report.

An officer from the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, a division of a Florida regulatory agency responsible for licensing businesses, collecting taxes and enforcing laws in the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industry, questioned her age and asked for an ID. She then handed him an ID with someone else’s name on it, according to the report.

The officer found her real ID in the same wallet, and Gribbins said that she didn’t want to answer questions, according to the report.

As the officer filed a report, Gribbins reportedly grabbed her ID and ran down the street.

The officer caught up and struggled with Gribbins before bringing her back to the patrol car, according to the report.

Another officer noticed Gribbins break free from the left side of her handcuffs and attempt to remove the right side, at which point the officers struggled with Gribbins once more.

Gribbins is listed as a UF student in the directory, but could not be reached for comment.

Police charged Gribbins with underage possession of alcohol, fraud, resisting an officer with violence and battery of an officer. Authorities took her to the Alachua County Jail where she was released Sunday afternoon on her own recognizance.
