UF closes campus in preparation for Hermine

President Fuchs said UF will close at 4 p.m. today ahead of Tropical Storm Hermine.

It will remain closed Friday, said Fuchs, at a Board of Trustees meeting. An official UF alert was sent out soon after the announcement. Alachua County Schools will also be closed Friday.

Hermine is currently expected to make landfall tonight, possibly as a hurricane. If so, it would be the first hurricane to hit Florida since Wilma in 2005.
