After a woman resisted his romantic advances, a Gainesville man resorted to blackmail, posting semi-nude photos of the college student online and began threatening to share them with law schools that she considered attending, Gainesville Police said.

Christopher David Alexander, 19, met the woman in November through the anonymous smartphone app Yik Yak, and she soon began sending him sexually explicit photos via Snapchat—under the agreement that the photos would not be saved or shared, according to a police report.

Alexander seemed infatuated with the woman, wiring her $35 on Nov. 30—in an effort to spoil her—and then treating her to lunch after a week and a half of chatting online, according to the report.

But after Alexander dropped her off, the woman contacted him saying she was not interested in a romantic relationship and that she only saw him as a friend, according to the report.

That night, at about 7:35 p.m. on Dec. 8, an apparently angered Alexander posted one of the woman’s photos on the message-board website 4chan.org, along with the message “posting her [nudes] just cause,” according to the report. Included in the post was a screenshot of her Facebook page that listed her name, picture, college and high school information. He then sent her an image of the post.

Alexander is currently an applicant to enroll at UF for the Fall 2017 semester, said John Hines, a UF public records coordinator.

Throughout the night, Alexander demanded she send more pictures of herself and pay him back the money he spent on her. If not, he threatened to continue posting her photos online, as well as sending them to her family and law schools where she was looking to apply, according to the report.

He shared her Snapchat and Kik usernames online and sent her threatening messages with deadlines to send photos, according to the report.

“[H]ahahaha, i’m running out of patience, and considering how much you’ve stalled, pissed me off, and broke me to pieces, I sort of like the alternative, really didn’t even get to go full on with it,” he messaged her at 10:35 p.m., according to the report.

Sometime after 11 p.m., the woman became desperate and sent another photo in an attempt to stall him while she contacted police.

While the woman waited for police response, Alexander posted many photos with the woman’s Snapchat and Kik usernames included. He also created a new Kik account using her old address from Tampa. She has since received hundreds of ads, messages and sexually explicit photos as a result of Alexander’s posts, according to the report.

The ordeal left the woman with severe anxiety, embarrassment and emotional stress, according to the report.

Police arrested Alexander on a charge of extortion, and authorities took him to the Alachua County Jail on Wednesday. He paid a bond of $400 but cannot leave the jail until he is fitted for a GPS tracking device, but it is unknown when the device will be fixed to his person.
