The SEC honored three members of the Gators women’s golf team for their accomplishments this season.
Maisie Filler, Annabell Fuller and Lauren Waidner were among many to receive end-of-season acknowledgement from the SEC Friday.
Filler earned a spot on the All-Freshman team, while Fuller secured a spot on the All-SEC Second team. Additionally, Waidner received a nod to the SEC Community Service team for a third consecutive year.
A strong freshman campaign propelled Filler to her honor. The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, native competed in the majority of the Gators tournaments, only missing one. She finished the season with four under-par rounds and four top-25 finishes. Filler’s season was highlighted by her performance at the East Lake Cup, where she finished in a tie for 13th.
Fuller excelled during her sophomore season. While only appearing in seven tournaments, the England native led the Gators with four top-10 finishes. Her season peaked in February when she won the Gators Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville.
Earlier this year, Fuller, along with senior Addie Baggarly, was invited to participate in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur tournament. The invitation was exclusive to less than 100 of the best amateur female golfers worldwide. She finished the event in a tie for 22nd with a 10-over-par 226.
Waidner is being recognized for her actions off the course for the third straight year.
The Fleming Island, Florida, native has been heavily invested in the Gainesville community since she joined the Gators in 2018.. She mentors critically ill children with the program Streetlight. Waidner also serves at local schools, packing shoes for underprivileged kids as a part of the Florida Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has also been involved with organizing a Climb for Cancer event.
Waidner appeared in three events for the Gators on the course this season. Her best finish came in Athens, Georgia, at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. She led the Gators with a tie for 16th finish.
