The Florida women’s 200-yard medley relay team consisting of junior Aris Runnels, junior Micayla Cronk, freshman Molly Mayne and junior Olivia Peoples earned the first gold of the day, finishing in one minute, 34.25 seconds, scoring the second-best time in program history.
The first place finishes didn’t start there, with the men’s 200 medley relay team of senior Adam Chaney, junior Julian Smith, freshman Scotty Buff and junior Macguire McDuff placing first with a time of 1:21.66, dropping 1.29 seconds from their seeded time and breaking the pool record.
The men’s and women’s 800 free relay teams both snatched first place spots on the podium. The men’s team of sophomore Joshua Liendo, senior Jake Mitchell, Smith and McDuff completed the event in 6:06.36 seconds, dropping 11:46 seconds from their entry time.
On the women's side, freshman Bella Sims, senior Isabel Ivey, junior Emma Weyant and Cronk finished the race in 6:49.65 seconds, setting a program record, SEC record, SEC Meet record and pool record while claiming back-to-back championships in the event.
In the women’s 3-meter preliminaries, junior Carina Lumia and sophomore Casey Greenberg placed 21st and 26th, failing to qualify for the finals. Monroy placed third in the preliminary round with a score of 325.15, advancing to the finals.
Freshman Camyla Monroy had an outstanding performance in her championship debut in the women’s 3m dive final. She is the second freshman on Florida’s swim and dive roster to reach the podium in the 2024 SEC Championships.
Monroy went on to earn second place in the women’s 3m finals, scoring 357.60 points in her first SEC appearance. Throughout the 2023-24 season, she placed first in the women’s 3m against Miami, Virginia, Georgia and Florida State. She also placed first in the Tennessee and Georgia Invitationals.
Sophomore Peyton Donald, senior Skip Donald and freshman Conor Gesing, who had all competed in the men’s 1m Monday, placed first in the men’s diving team event with a score of 353.65 points.
Wednesday, swimming preliminaries for the women’s 500 free, men’s 500 free, women’s 200 IM, men’s 200 IM, women’s 50 free and men’s 50 free will begin at 9:30 a.m. Diving preliminaries for the men’s 3m will begin at noon.
The first event of the day, the women’s 500 free, begins at 9:30 a.m. The meet can be streamed on the SEC network.
