‘Shaine in Spain’: If you're even slightly considering studying abroad, do it

Besides choosing to attend UF, studying abroad was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
During my four-month study abroad experience, I was fortunate enough to travel to nearly a dozen cities. Here’s a rundown of everywhere I’ve been and my experiences there.
As my time studying abroad wraps up, I can’t help but think about the places I’ve been — and the places I still want to see.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent weekends in Porto and Lisbon, Portugal, and Prague, Czechia.
In my most recent semester at UF, a lot of my class syllabuses stated the use of AI was permitted when appropriate and when properly disclosed. In Madrid, all of my syllabuses strictly prohibit the use of AI in any form.
His death has been a stark reminder of how important it is to be safe abroad, especially among Americans studying in Spain who could find themselves in a similar situation.
As I stood jetlagged in Plaza Mayor the morning I landed, I couldn’t help but think about all my friends who were together in Gainesville. Meanwhile, I was alone and halfway across the world in a country where I barely spoke the language.
On my first day of class, I even woke up two hours early to make sure I made it on time.
I’ve previously been an editor and reporter for The Alligator, but this semester I will take on a different role: a columnist.
