The Seattle Mariners have selected Florida catcher Luke Heyman with the No. 422 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.

Heyman is the fifth Gator to be drafted in the 2025 MLB Draft, and the 115th draftee under Kevin O’Sullivan’s tenure.

Heyman spent all three seasons with the Gators, culminating in 177 hits, 41 home runs and 135 RBI.

As a true freshman in 2023, Heyman appeared in 55 games, including 51 starts at catcher, first base and designated hitter. He batted .314 while tallying 12 home runs and 39 RBI. Additionally, he posted a perfect .995 fielding percentage across 216 defensive chances at catcher and first base, as he earned a nod in the 2023 All-SEC Freshman team.

In his sophomore campaign, Heyman was one of three Gators to start all 66 games as Florida made its second straight College World Series appearance. He posted career highs with 65 hits, 16 home runs and 52 RBI while batting .246. For the second straight season, he recorded a .995 fielding percentage, this time with 562 defensive chances. One of his best performances of the season came against the Kentucky Wildcats in the College World Series, going 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI in the victory.

In 2025, Heyman appeared and started in 49 games before suffering a season-ending forearm injury against the Alabama Crimson Tide on May 15. He slashed .301 while adding 13 home runs and 44 RBI. Despite ending his season early, Heyman was selected to the All-SEC First Team as a catcher, and was a semifinalist for the Buster Posey Award, which honors the best catcher in collegiate baseball.

Heyman joins a Mariners team that stands second in the American League West Division at 51-45. Seattle ranks as the No. 5 farm system according to the MLB farm system rankings.
