From smooth jazz trios to an indie-sleaze takeover at Gainesville’s only gay club, every music lover — and player — can find an event to enjoy in the city this week. Check out a roundup of some of the top concerts and music events happening from Tuesday through Sunday.
Tuesday, Sept. 23
Baby J’s: Standard Tuesdays – The Peer Group at 7 p.m.
This Florida jazz collective, led by Roger Reep, will play two sets of jazz classics.
MUB 101: Sheila Browne and Lisa Leonard — Guest Artist Recital at 7:20 p.m.
Guest artists Sheila Brown (viola) and Lisa Leonard (piano) perform 20th century pieces, like Hindemith’s Sonata, and more modern selections, like Frazelle’s “Mourning Pieces,” at the UF School of Music.
Bo Diddley Plaza: Smooth Flava Dance Party at 5:45 p.m.
Line dance at this free community event.
The Bull: Jazzology at 9 p.m.
The venue will serve craft beer and wine at this jazz event.
Wednesday, Sept. 24
Baby J’s: Category is: SHOWTUNES – Karaoke hosted by DJ Alley Star at 8 p.m.
This sing-along will feature Broadway classics.
The Bull: Triage Jazz and Thomas Allain at 6:30 p.m.
Triage Jazz, a jazz trio featuring vocals and Thomas Allain playing solo indie folk music, will be at this event.
Thursday, Sept. 25
Heartwood Soundstage: Sugaray Rayford with The Jordan Mobley Band at 8 p.m.
Blues Music Award winner Sugaray Rayford comes to Gainesville with the support of the Jordan Mobley Band.
Signal: Dylan Cotrone, High Water Line and The Mangos at 8 p.m.
Dylan Cotrone’s Weekend Religion Tour enters its fourth leg playing some laid-back rock music.
Baby J’s: DJ Malibu at 9 p.m.
DJ Malibu hosts a Latin and Caribbean music set.
University Auditorium: UF Symphony Orchestra "Nobility" at 7:20 p.m.
The UF Symphony Orchestra presents its first event of the semester, featuring compositions by Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Ravel.
Loosey’s: Indie Demolition Night — Lucas Cassia, Zion Pfeifer, and Haylin Watkins at 8 p.m.
Free indie concert at Loosey’s, featuring French artist Lucas Cassia on his Floridian tour.
Bo Diddley Plaza: Smooth Flava Dance Party at 5:45 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 26
Heartwood Soundstage: The Currys with Chelsea Saddler at 7 p.m.
Indie folk rock band The Currys is joined by folk songwriter Chelsea Saddler.
Baby J’s: Patti and the Gypsy Jazz Gents at 8 p.m.
This jazz band will play a variety of classics.
MUB 101: Trombone Studio Solo/Chamber Recital at 5:10 p.m.
The UF trombone studio performs solo and ensemble pieces.
Signal: Man’s Best Party: A Sabrina Carpenter Night at 9 p.m.
A full night of songs from Sabrina Carpenter’s brand new album “Man’s Best Friend,” as well as other pop star hits.
The Ox: Mourne, Death Posture, Northwood and Issue of Destiny at 8 p.m.
This concert will feature multiple heavy metal bands.
Serpentine: The Wine Down with DJs Adikt and Fake at 7 p.m.
This plant nursery will have wine tasting and tacos against reggae, bossa nova and more with DJs Adikt and Fake.
Bo Diddley Plaza: Morningbell at 7 p.m.
Free outdoor concerts at the Bo Diddley plaza every Friday. This week’s feature is Morningbell, a local psychedelic rock band.
University Club: Alex Willow, Buboy and The Nancys at 6 p.m.
“Bring back indie sleaze” with Swamp Records at University Club.

MUB 101: Low Brass Studio Fall Recital at 3 p.m.
The UF low brass studio showcases its talents.
Vivid Music Hall: The Hails, Edgehill, Oceanic and Jupiter Bloom at 7 p.m.
Indie-rock Gainesville band The Hails comes back home on the last leg of its Homefield Advantage tour.
The Wooly: MICO, vaultboy at 8 p.m.
Pop-punk artist MICO continues on his Internet Hometown Hero World Tour.
The Bull: Ruud Duud at 8 p.m.
Alt-indie rock artist Ruud Dudd performs at The Bull.
Hass Kitchen: HassChella + Afterparty
Brunch party starting at 2 p.m. followed by an afterparty at 9, with live music throughout.
4th Avenue Food Park: Porch Swing at 11 a.m.
Local jazz band Porch Swing performs while brunch is served at this open-air restaurant.
Sunday, Sept. 28
Heartwood Soundstage: JJ Gray and Mofro at 7:30 p.m.
Jacksonville southern rock band JJ Gray and Mofro come to the Heartwood Soundstage.
The Wooly: Parrotfish, Madwoman, Dogs Can Wear Hats at 6 p.m.
Tampa Bay band Parrotfish is joined by Madwoman and Dogs Can Wear Hats for a night of indie-rock music.
The Ox: JVK with Fangface, Jackie & The Mosquito Bites and Afghan Hounds at 7 p.m.
Glam rock band JVK continues on their Get Offline tour, supported by Fangface, Jackie & The Mosquito Bites and Afghan Hounds.
Loosey’s: Taylor Hollingsworth with Kyle Keller at 7 p.m.
The Alabamian folk rock artist is joined by Gainesville songwriter Kyle Keller.
