The financial details of Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin’s extension were released Wednesday. Stricklin signed a five-year extension on June 1, and the terms of the contract were revealed after a public records request filed by Swamp247.

The extension will last five years until Oct. 31, 2030, and increases his total annual compensation to $2.075 million, with a base salary of $1.25 million. The pay raise puts Stricklin as the eighth highest-paid athletic director in the SEC and No. 17 nationally.

Following the deal’s expiration on Oct. 31, 2030, Stricklin’s contract will turn into a five-year deal, making him a special assistant to the next athletic director, which will run from Nov. 1, 2030 to Nov. 1, 2035.

In addition to his $200,000 base salary increase, Stricklin will have the opportunity to earn up to $200,000 dollars based on athletic and academic performance, as well as another $100,000 based on presidential discretion.

In the event Stricklin is terminated without cause, the University Athletic Association will pay his base salary and a retention bonus of $290,000 for the remainder of his contract.

Stricklin was hired in November 2016 after winning the 2015-16 Athletics Director of the Year Award while at Mississippi State.

Since his hiring, Stricklin has overseen 13 national championships across nine different sports, as well as 44 SEC championships. His most recent success was hiring men’s basketball coach Todd Golden in 2022, who led the Gators to their third basketball title in 2025.

In addition, Stricklin has led several fundraising campaigns for facilities, including the construction of Condron Family Ballpark and the Heavener Football Facility. Florida has several projects in the works, including renovations to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
