From teenage dirtbags to jam bands, every music lover can find an event to enjoy in the city this week. Check out a roundup of some of the concerts and music events happening this week.

Wednesday, Oct. 1

The Wooly: The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 8 p.m.

The annual Fall run of the show features a live shadowcast from local actors to accompany the cult-classic movie. 

Loosey’s: Bryan Raymond, Dumpster Meds, Tim Holehouse and A Sunroom at 8 p.m.

All kinds of folk music, from metal to experimental, will be played at this show. 

Heartwood Soundstage: Community Nights - Ol' Timey Jam at 6 p.m.

This free jam session is open to both musicians and listeners. 

Thursday, Oct. 2

Signal: Taylor Swift Night: “Life of a Showgirl” Album Release Party at 8:30 p.m.

Listening party for Taylor Swift’s brand new album, as well as other Swift classics. 

Capone’s: Fie Scoobie at 9 p.m.

He’s from Gainesville, and he’s at Capone’s. 

How Bazar: Flipping the System Presents: “Use Your Voice!” with Sigs Inside, Vane Light, Tanner Martin and Noise Next Door at 8 p.m.

These four Gainesville acts will duke it out in a battle of the bands to raise awareness for sexual violence prevention. 

Loosey’s: Indie Demolition Night — Dude, Chill, Birdgirl and The Joytraders at 8 p.m.

This weekly free indie concert is celebrating Dude, Chill’s Birthday. 

Friday, Oct. 3 

University Club: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl at 9 p.m.

University Club is hosting a listening party for the new Taylor Swift album, as well as a drag show. Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite era.

Vivid Music Hall: Vybez: R&B Night at 10 p.m.

Retro R&B music is played at this 25+ event. 

Signal: Pop Punk Emo Night Gainesville by Punknites at 9 p.m.

DJ sets and live bands will play pop punk classics. 

Heartwood Soundstage: Paul Thorn with Kristopher James at 7 p.m.

Former pro boxer turned blues singer-songwriter heads to Gainesville, joined by Florida native Kristopher James. 

Heartwood Soundstage: Magic City Hippies with Rohna at 9:30 p.m.

Psychedelic Miami act Magic City Hippies come to Gainesville with the support of Rohna. 

Civic Media Center: “...back from the grave”: DJ Archaeologist at 8 p.m.

DJ Archaeologist plays an all-vinyl set, accompanied by local artist market. All donations go towards Gainesville FoodNotBombs. 

Saturday, Oct. 4

Heartwood Soundstage: Gainesville Art Circus at 3 p.m.

Acrobatics, face painting, live bands and more will be at the fourth annual Gainesville Art Circus. 

The Ox: The Eradicator, You Vandal, Golf War and Small Disasters at 8 p.m.

Bands come together to support GRACE Marketplace, a local homeless shelter. 

Sunday, Oct. 5

The Bull: Stelth Ulvang with Quil Darling at 7 p.m.

The Lumineers’ pianist, Stelth Ulvang, is joined by folk-punk Gainesville artist Quil Darling.

The Backyard: Rise Up: Madwoman, Thunderclap and Cathluina at 6:30

This is the 11th annual band benefit concert supporting National Women’s Liberation.

My Favorite Animal released its second single, produced by Gainesville local Jordan Burchel.

Bittersweet - Noise Next Door

Noise Next Door releases its second single. The band will perform at the How Bazar on Oct. 2.

Shin Splints - Alex Willow

Gainesville artist Alex Willow releases his debut single in anticipation of his debut EP coming out Oct. 17.

After three years of development, Tamayo Band releases its new psychedelic album.
