Around noon on Tuesday, an 18-year-old Santa Fe High School student allegedly stabbed another student during a fight.
The two students were verbally arguing in the courtyard during lunch, according to an arrest report filed by the Alachua Police Department. Then, David Teague ran at the victim, who responded by throwing an unknown liquid at him.
A physical fight started in which Teague grabbed a 5-inch pocket knife out of his back pocket.
Teague then allegedly stabbed the victim several times in the back with the knife before bystanders separated them, according to the arrest report.
The victim was taken to the school nurse until paramedics arrived and took him to Shands Hospital.
The school was put on lockdown because of the incident, according to the arrest report.
The entire incident was caught on video surveillance. Teague admitted to stabbing the victim when questioned by police officers. He is being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon on school property and interfering with school administration.
Teague is being held at the Alachua County Jail.
At the time the arrest report was written, the victim was in critical condition at the hospital.
