Throwing a complete game is an incredible stat in the sport of softball.

But, throwing 40 complete games is nothing short of greatness. That is exactly what Keagan Rothrock accomplished Tuesday night.

It’s no secret the junior ace is already in the history books among Florida softball pitchers, and she just added another piece to her resume.

“It means a lot actually, just being able to be at a university where I'm able to love softball and I'm able to love my teammates and love the game," Rothrock said.

In the complete game, she recorded six strikeouts and moved to 6-0 on the year.

Behind the excellence of Rothrock, No. 4 Florida (13-0) defeated the North Florida Ospreys (11-2) 7-3 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Gators moved to 19-0 over UNF following the win Tuesday night.

Once again, the bottom of the lineup for the Gators delivered, but this time it was courtesy of Townsen Thomas. In the bottom of the second, the redshirt freshman hit a two-run double to give Florida an early 2-0 advantage.

The scoring didn’t stop there. Junior Cassidy McLellan launched an opposite-field home run to extend the lead to 5–0. The blast marked the third consecutive game the left fielder has gone deep after a pair of home runs against Marshall and Georgia Tech over the weekend.

Early in 2026, McLellan has proven that staying and developing within a college program can pay off.

“I've just trusted myself and trusted my coaches and my preparation. My swing feels great,” McLellan said postgame.

On the defensive side, the Gators had a strong showing. Florida turned two double plays in the victory, including a rare 3-6 double play by junior Ava Brown.

Despite the 5-0 deficit, the Ospreys didn’t back down from the fight. In the top of the sixth, UNF right fielder sophomore Grace Shaw lined an RBI double to score junior Addie Keef.

Immediately after, the Osprey cleanup hitter junior Bella Cimino hit a two-run homer to make the deficit 5-3.

In response to the Ospreys three-run sixth inning, sophomore Taylor Shumaker led the bottom half off for Florida with a basehit up the middle. Right behind Shumaker, senior Jocelyn Erickson left the yard, making the Gator lead 7-3.

Florida continues play against North Florida on Wednesday in Jacksonville. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium.
