Downtown Fats, more commonly known as DTF, will be shutting its doors on May 1 after nine years in business. In an April 3 Instagram announcement, the business thanked the UF community for all its support.
The announcement sparked dismay, with students in the comments sharing their disappointment. The post had garnered over 600 likes and 50 comments as of Friday afternoon, five hours after its posting.
The speakeasy-inspired club did not provide an exact reason as to why it's closing, but it encouraged students to show up and give the club the “send-off it deserves.”
“One last ride. Don’t miss it,” the Instagram post said.
