The 2017 Homecoming weekend kicked off with the Gator Gallop, a short 2-mile run around UF’s campus, on Friday morning. Afterward, fans lined up along West University Avenue to watch the annual UF Homecoming Parade at noon, which included more than 100 different floats. On Friday evening, fans gathered on Flavet Field for performances by rapper Snoop Dogg and singer Daya for Gator Growl. On Saturday, the Florida Gators played the Louisiana State University Tigers for the annual Homecoming football game.
On Sunday, children and parents attended a dress-up party at the Alachua County Headquarters Library, located at 401 E. University Ave. The event was hosted by Princess and Tiaras.
This year marks the fourth annual Rally in the Swamp, a student pep rally held to start the 2017-2018 school year on the right foot. Students were invited to play games and welcomed back to school by Coach Jim McElwain, Athletic Director Scott Stricklin and UF President Kent Fuchs. Most importantly, attendees were taught the great game-day traditions for Saturday football.
