The 11th Gainesville Latino Film Festival started Thursday during Museum Nights at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art. The festival, which showcases artistic and educational films by or about Latino culture, will continue until Sept. 30.Thursday’s event celebrated women in film and included a variety of events ranging from salsa dancing to spoken word and even arts and crafts.

The 11th Gainesville Latino Film Festival started Thursday during Museum Nights at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art. The Asian American Student Assembly hosted "Breakthrough" Friday night at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The event celebrated the growth of the Asian American community and personal breakthroughs students experience in their lifetimes. A variety of Asian American clubs, sororities and fraternities performed dance routines ranging from traditional dances to modern choreography.
