Angela Zanreya Hunt is a transgender woman who advocates for trans and non-binary lives accross the nation. “We all deserve to live our lives authentically, fully, completely,” she said. She began her speech at the Black Trans Lives Matter Candlelight Vigil by repeating her name. “Speak my name now so that my brothers and sisters do not have to speak my name in remembrance," she said. "We do not deserve to die. We do not deserve to be taken from this world simply because you do not understand me.” According to the Human Rights Campaign, in 2019 at least 25 transgender or non-binary people were killed in 2019 and 22 have been killed in just the first seven months of 2020.
