Authorities charged a second man on Sunday for shooting at six people, including three children, early this year.

Mckenzly Alphae Edwards, 25, of Alachua, was charged with attempted murder after a warrant was filed for his arrest shortly after the shooting.

McKenzly Edwards was arrested in West Palm Beach for a separate murder investigation in June, when the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office learned there was a warrant for Edwards’ arrest in Alachua County.

Two witnesses saw Mckenzly Edwards and Kenzel Lashod Edwards, 23, of Alachua, shoot more than 20 times at a car on Northwest 156th Place on Jan. 15, according to an Alachua Police sworn complaint affidavit.

Two men, a woman and three children were in a car when McKenzly Edwards and Kenzel Edwards fired at the car and then fled in an unknown vehicle, the complaint said.

One man’s lung was punctured, and the other man was shot in the lower back and legs, police said.

The woman reached for the gearshift and lost a finger on her right hand. She tried to escape with a 20-month-old, 2-year-old and 4-year-old children, police said.

A bullet grazed the back of the 4-year-old’s head, and the 2-year-old was shot in the right hand, police said. The 20-month-old was not hurt.

Kenzel Edwards was arrested in February and charged with 12 counts of attempted murder. He is being held in the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $1.8 million bond.

Mckenzly Edwards is also charged with possessing a firearm as a felon, the complaint said. He is being held in jail in lieu of a more than $2 million bond.
