A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash at the intersection of Clark Butler Boulevard and Plaza Boulevard Thursday afternoon.

Northbound traffic on Clark Butler Boulevard will be diverted to Windmeadows Boulevard until about 4:30 p.m., Gainesville Police spokesperson Ofc. Ben Tobias wrote in an email.

Witnesses told police that northbound traffic was stopped at a red light at Plaza Boulevard, Tobias said. The motorcyclist rode up the lane in between the stopped vehicle and entered the intersection while a red truck was making a left turn on Plaza Boulevard.

The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the truck, and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle, Tobias said.

Gainesville Fire Rescue and Alachua County Fire Rescue transported the rider to UF Health Shands, Tobias said. The investigation is ongoing.
